The flagship rock and roll guitar for Gibson, the 1950s Les Paul Standard. This 1954 example saw an extensive restoration in 1987 at the Gibson factory which retained many integral components, but saw the loss of others. 1954 Original: Switch, Switch Tip, Poker Chip, P90s, P90 Covers, Pickguard, Jack, Bridge, Tailpiece Studs, Inlays, Case. 1987 Replacement: Tuners, Truss Rod Cover, Fingerboard, Fingerboard Binding, Pots, Capacitors, Jack Plate, Cavity Control Covers, Knobs. The alleged story behind the reason it went back to the factory in 1987 was to get it refinished: it had heavy checking lines and the gold had turned green. All that being behind us now, this does present an opportunity to own and play a vintage Les Paul for an affordable price. Whether you want get it restored again or play it as it is, this one won't disappoint.
