From Gibson:
This Gibson Custom Select 1959 ES-335™ Reissue in Vintage Sunburst with Murphy Lab Light Aging is a direct recreation of a Golden Era Gibson electric guitar. Gibson Custom Select offers guitars with unique features that are not currently available from our standard lineup of guitars. This collection of guitars features custom-fitted electronics, rare finishes, and unique hardware specifications. These guitars are made in small batches by highly skilled artisans at the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee. This 1959 ES-335 features a Vintage Sunburst finish with Murphy Lab Light Aging, which is not available from the standard assortment of guitars in the Murphy Lab Collection.  The ES-335 has its roots in the late 1950s with a unique construction method that combined Gibson’s history of building archtop electric guitars with the solidbody Les Paul model that was introduced in 1952. The ES-335 was born in 1958, with a pressed, laminated top, back, and sides, which combines hollowbody construction techniques with a solid center block. This center block helps reduce the feedback that many hollowbody archtop electric guitars can produce when playing through amplifiers at loud volumes. The original run of ES-335 guitars made in 1958 featured an unbound neck and a slightly bigger neck profile. In 1959, binding was added to the neck, and the ES-335 was fitted with a slightly thinner neck profile that players have loved for decades. This is the same neck profile found on Les Paul™ Standard guitars from the same year of production.  This Gibson Custom Select 1959 ES-335 is only available in this configuration through the Gibson Custom Select and Made to Measure programs. This special pattern from Gibson Custom has a light bulb shape rather than the teardrop shape that can be found on models such as the J-45™ and Les Paul Junior. Loaded with a set of Custombucker pickups, an ABR-1 bridge, a Stop Bar tailpiece, and CTS® potentiometers, this ES-335 is a direct recreation of one of Gibson’s most cherished models. Players like Larry Carlton, Slash, and B.B. King all played ES-335 models, which showcases the versatility of this instrument.  This 1959 ES-335 in Deep Burgundy Sparkle is a unique offering, and with its Murphy Lab Light Aging, it looks like a cherished vintage heirloom. While it may look pedestrian at first glance, this guitar is indeed one unique bird. With the iconic 1959 neck profile, Custombucker pickups, and semi-hollowbody construction, this guitar can be used to play any genre, whether it’s at home, on stage, or in the studio. Included with this guitar is a reissue hardshell case and a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity.
