This 2013 Gibson Les Paul R9 has received a full Standard Makeover from Historic Makeovers, transforming it into an instrument that captures the essence of an authentic 1959 Burst in both look and feel. The top has been recontoured to true vintage specifications, and the neck has been reshaped to the classic late-’50s “C” profile with rolled binding for a naturally played-in feel. The refinish—done with period-correct aniline dyes and unplasticized nitrocellulose lacquer—shows heavy, artful aging throughout, with deep checking and wear patterns that perfectly evoke decades of honest use. Despite the vintage aesthetic, the guitar remains in excellent condition, with a solid, lively resonance and playability that closely mirrors an original ’59.
