This early-1939 Martin D-28 is fresh to the market, from the family of the original owner, and in incredible playing condition thanks to the efforts of our in-house repair department. All the right things are here: wide nut, original finish, original bridge plate, stable top, original tuners, and even it's original case (albeit in rough condition). This was a heavily played guitar, spending its life in the central Illinois region in use for dances, weddings, and radio stations. The photo shows the owner, named Martin, playing it with his harmonica holding device. Repairs previous to us include a replica bridge, bridge plate saver plugs, and minor crack reglues. We gave it a fresh neck reset, refret, lower bout binding replacement, and glued a headstock volute crack (commonly found in this heavily played condition). Save for a replacement bridge pin in the replica bridge and a small section of replacement binding, this one is all there! We absolutely love the playwear and feel it epitomizes the holy grail status of a Pre-war herringbone dreadnaught. The family recounts that Martin's parents saved up 3 years during the Great Depression to afford it, we would have to say that Martin appreciated the gesture and made good use of it!
Comes in original hardshell case.
