This exceptional 1937 Martin D-18 comes from one of the most sought-after years in the company's storied history. While it has undergone several repairs, as is common for guitars of this age, it still embodies all the characteristics that make these instruments so revered. The tone is bold and punchy, yet refined enough to adapt to almost any musical style.
The guitar has been fully refinished with a stunning sunburst finish, which is beginning to show signs of wear, giving it a well-loved, broken-in aesthetic. Key restoration work includes a neck reset, refret, and replacement of the bridge, bridge plate, nut, saddle, bridge pins, and pickguard.
Additional repairs include four back cracks (one reinforced with three cleats), three repaired cracks on the treble-side, four on the bass-side, and a top crack near the fingerboard extension, secured with a cleat. The back binding near the bass-side lower bout has also been repaired.
Thanks to these extensive repairs, the guitar plays effortlessly and delivers an outstanding sound. It comes with a Calton hard case for added protection.
