This 1951 Martin 5-18 in Natural finish is a truly inspiring little guitar, made famous by Marty Robbins and full of vintage character. The 5-18 comes from the 19th-century German “terz” guitar tradition and was designed to be tuned a minor third higher than standard pitch, giving it a unique, bright, focused voice that works beautifully for solo lead playing or blending into vocal harmonies. Despite its small size, the overtones and sustain ring beautifully, giving this little guitar a surprisingly rich and captivating voice. It has a sweet, intimate tone with wonderful depth and responsiveness, and once you pick it up, it’s hard to put down. The guitar is in good condition with dings and scratches throughout, but is stable and sounds beautiful. A truly special vintage Martin with a distinctive voice, wonderful feel, and the kind of personality that keeps you playing.
