Crafted in 1935, this Shade Top 000-28 stands as one of just three produced during that year. It embodies all the desired qualities of a pre-war Martin guitar. Its responsiveness shines through with both gentle fingerpicking and soft flat picking, yet its true character unfolds when strummed. Enhanced comfort is ensured by the wide nut and soft V neck profile, making it a pleasure to play.
It has undergone the typical maintenance and repairs expected of an instrument of its age, including a refret, neck reset, replacement of the nut, pins, and tuners. Joe K replaced a previously installed bridge with extended wings with a TJ bridge, performing some grafting and touch-up work to the top under the extended wings. However, there were no repairs made under the bridge itself. Two hairline cracks in the waist have been secured with glue. Additionally, a cap previously installed on the bridge plate has been removed.
