Those familiar with the high-end boutique amp world will likely recognize Jim Kelley, renowned for his FACS amps and regarded as a brilliant engineer on par with the likes of Alexander Dumble. This particular amp appears to have been built on the platform of the “Reverb” model, with several custom modifications, including an additional input gain control in place of the Low input. It also appears that the reverb circuitry was replaced with additional gain stages, giving this amp quite a bit of drive on tap.
Like all Jim Kelley amps, the tone controls feature pull functions that boost specific frequencies for additional tone shaping. The power switch selects between 60- and 30-watt modes, allowing for operation with either two or four 6V6 power tubes. Also, the original Kendrick speaker can be included upon request.
