Description
This 1949 Gibson Southern Jumbo is a seasoned slope-shouldered dreadnought with the dry, open response that has long made postwar Gibson acoustics so appealing. The guitar has undergone a substantial amount of professional maintenance over the years, including a neck reset, refret, bridge and brace repairs, crack repairs, and replacement saddle and nut work, all aimed at keeping it structurally healthy and playable. Several repaired cracks are present on the back and top, supported internally with maple cleats, along with localized overspray associated with some of the repair work. Cosmetically, it shows heavy pick wear, numerous dings throughout, and finish wear on the bottom from an apparent past cleaning issue. Even with its visible history, it remains a lively and resonant example with the kind of broken-in response that only comes from decades of use.
Includes modern Gibson hard shell case.
