Gibson Jumbo, 1934 Sunburst

The Gibson Jumbo was a short lived model introduced in 1934, a round shouldered take on the dreadnought. Very few were made, as the model was succeeded in 1936 by both the J-35 and the Advanced Jumbo, which soon were replaced themselves by the classic J-45 and J-200 "Super Jumbo" models.Despite the short lifespan, and perhaps even in spite of its rarity, this model contains all the magic of Gibson's golden era acoustics. The rich, balanced tone matches the best qualities of its younger brothers, and it's a pure joy to play.The guitar has undergone extensive restoration, including a neck reset, replacement tuners, a new nut, a refret, and repairs to multiple top cracks. Additional work includes a bridge re-glue, a filled and re-drilled bridge plate, repairs to a back crack and several side cracks, a new saddle, and some light finish touch-ups. The extensive list of work may dissuade an uncompromising collector, but no player or listener will find fault with the sound and performance of this exquisite instrument.
