The Gibson Jumbo was a short lived model introduced in 1934, a round shouldered take on the dreadnought. Very few were made, as the model was succeeded in 1936 by both the J-35 and the Advanced Jumbo, which soon were replaced themselves by the classic J-45 and J-200 "Super Jumbo" models.

Despite the short lifespan, and perhaps even in spite of its rarity, this model contains all the magic of Gibson's golden era acoustics. The rich, balanced tone matches the best qualities of its younger brothers, and its a pure joy to play.

The guitar's repairs include a refret, replaced nut, replacement oversized maple bridge plate, bridge slot converted to drop saddle, numerous filled screw holes in top and two on the side from a pickup and archtop-style pickguard, lower bout bass side crack repair, endpin plugged, spot finish touchup throughout, and an expertly repaired 7" crack in rim (bass-side). The extensive list of work may dissuade an uncompromising collector, but no player or listener will find fault with the sound and performance of this exquisite instrument.
