This 1967 Gibson J-50 wears its original natural finish with the kind of honest playwear that tells a long story, yet it remains impressively original throughout. It appears to have never had a neck reset, and other key components are all still as Gibson sent them out. A few top cracks have been repaired, with small cleat blocks installed inside near the heel block for extra shoulder support. Additionally, the bridge has been reglued along with plugs added to the bridge plate. The neck sports a slimmer nut width and a comfortable C-shaped carve that feels smooth and approachable in the hand. Most importantly, it sounds fantastic—exactly what an old Gibson dread should: woody, open, and full of that dry, seasoned thump these ’60s J-50s are loved for.
