Description
This 1997 Fender Bonnie Raitt Signature Stratocaster comes from the early years of Fender’s Artist Signature Series, produced during a period when the company was beginning to take a more personalized approach to artist models. Finished in Desert Sunset, the guitar stands apart from many late-’90s Stratocasters with its warm metallic finish, pearloid guard, and large ’60s-style headstock. Bonnie Raitt’s influence on the design leaned toward practicality and comfort, resulting in a model that differs from standard American Stratocasters of the era without becoming overly specialized.
The alder body pairs with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard featuring a slim, narrow “C” carve and a comfortable 9.5" radius. A trio of Custom Shop Texas Special single-coils gives the guitar a slightly hotter and more mid-focused response than traditional vintage Strat pickups, adding a bit more push while retaining the familiar clarity and snap. Vintage-style hardware and a six-saddle synchronized tremolo round out the build, while the satin neck finish keeps the instrument feeling smooth and broken-in. Produced from 1995 through 2002, these early Bonnie Raitt models have become increasingly uncommon compared to many of Fender’s longer-running signature offerings from the same period.
Includes OHSC.
