This 2022 Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster takes one of Fender’s less common late-’50s configurations and pairs it with a tasteful Journeyman Relic finish in Daphne Blue. The hardtail bridge gives the guitar a slightly firmer attack and added sustain compared to its synchronized tremolo counterpart, a setup that found favor with players looking for a more direct response from a Strat. Alder construction, a rosewood board, and handwound ’59 pickups keep the instrument rooted in the sounds associated with Fender’s early golden-era electrics.
The compound-radius fingerboard and substantial late-’50s “D” neck profile make for an easy-playing Custom Shop build without moving too far from the feel of an original example. Gold vintage hardware adds a custom touch against the lightly aged Daphne Blue finish and mint guard. Fender’s Journeyman Relic treatment keeps the wear restrained, with light checking and finish aging that retains an authentic vibe.
