Here’s a beautiful-sounding example of Gibson’s original flattop design! The L-1 underwent a major transformation in 1926, shifting from an archtop to a flattop model. This guitar features a 12-fret neck joint, a compact 14 3/4" body, and Gibson's unique H-brace bracing system, all contributing to its warm, balanced tone.
This particular L-1 has been lovingly restored to ensure it remains in excellent playing condition. The work includes a replaced fingerboard, a neck reset, a new bridge, nut, saddle, bridge pins, and end pin. Additional repairs include replacing three tuner shafts, repairing multiple top cracks (secured with eight cleats), and gluing two small side cracks at the bass-side waist. The back received attention as well, with four cracks repaired. There’s also finish overspray on the neck, back, and sides to help preserve the instrument.
Thanks to these thoughtful updates, this nearly century-old guitar plays beautifully and is ready to continue its musical journey. It comes with a non-original hardshell case to keep it safe and sound.
