An early Custom Shop take on Gibson’s iconic angular design, this 1983 Korina Explorer has the look and feel of a particularly special instrument. The Natural finish lets the Korina construction take center stage, with the distinctive body shape and simple two-pickup layout giving it plenty of visual and tonal character. “Betty” is written inside the neck pickup cavity, a personal touch that adds a bit of history to the guitar. Early Korina Explorers like this occupy an interesting place in Gibson’s history and remain some of the more distinctive instruments to come out of the company’s early-’80s revival of the design.
