Vox AC10 Twin Copper Panel 2x10 Combo 1962, Natural

The early 60's Vox AC10 amps are a rare find on this side of the pond. The “Twin” designation refers to its dual-speaker configuration, evolving from the single-speaker AC10 models produced earlier in the ’60s. The EF86-driven Vibrato channel has plenty of classic early Vox character, while the Normal channel offers a slightly different flavor through its 6U8A preamp. At a modest 10 watts, they’re easy to push into that wonderfully compressed, harmonically rich breakup that makes the early Vox amps so special.

This 1962 example is an especially cool copper panel model from the JMI era, retaining its original blue frame Elac speakers. Internally, the electrolytic caps have been replaced, along with just a couple of coupling caps and resistors, though the majority of the circuit remains original. A breakout panel has also been installed inside the cabinet, allowing for 8- or 16-ohm operation and the ability to run either the internal or external speakers. It’s in great condition for its age, showing only minor signs of previous wear. Please see the circuit photos for further details.
