The Martin D-28 has been the longstanding flagship model through the golden ages. The formula: Spruce top, Rosewood back and sides, and Ebony bridge. Once you get into this territory, there is still a lot of distance within the weeds to travel in terms of specs and variations. On this 1951 example, the Brazilian Rosewood back and sides are a stable straight grain, the Sitka spruce top is tight grained, and the lacquer is thin, worn and checked. It has recently had work to bring it back to factory tolerances through a neck reset, refret and replacement ebony bridge. The balance is perfect. To boot, the sound is stellar.
Comes with original hardshell case with velvet green lining (1 broken latch) and awesome horse decal on lid.
