Renowned in the world of guitars for their pioneering designs, Martin remains a formidable presence with their rosewood dreadnoughts leading the charge. This 1944 D-28 stands among the elite heavy-hitting dreadnoughts. Its punchy and prominent bass provides a warm foundation for the other notes to shine. The highs offer a crisp snap when flatpicked and a gentle shimmer when fingerpicked. Despite a few repairs to ensure its functionality, this guitar is in beautiful condition and ready to be enjoyed for decades to come. The repairs include a neck reset, bridge re-glue, refret, top overspray, replaced tuners, nut, and saddle, re-slotted replacement bridge for better intonation, ghosting from previous ornamentation, a hole in the heel cap from a previously installed strap pin, scalloped bass side X-brace, and moisture flaking on the sides and neck. This is a phenomenal D-28 that stands to be defeated. It has every bit of the Martin sound that is coveted and held in high regard among the world's best.
Calton HSC included.
