This guitar has turned some heads in our shop! A pre-war 000 with 42 series appointments doesn't come around often, as its legendary collector status received a significant boost when Eric Clapton played a 1939 model during his famous MTV Unplugged performance in the early 90's.
This instrument's repair history includes a neck set, refret, replaced bridge, an added bridge plate saver, and repaired center seam top crack. The fretboard has been planed down, two inlays replaced. On the body, they replaced a piece of Abalone on the Rosette and a couple of pieces around the binding. The finish has overspray over front and back of headstock, and a wood or furniture polish was used over original finish, giving it a slightly cloudy film.
This guitar is worn in and player grade for good reason: it sounds fantastic, and the repairs have improved the playability. Includes the original hardshell case for posterity, as well as a modern Martin case for better protection.
