This 1938 000-21 has undergone a handful of repairs and modifications while still retaining the soul of a coveted pre-war Martin. The most notable modification was a re-top in the 1950s (50's pickguard and tuners help us date this work). It has undergone a full refinish as well. Repair work includes a neck reset, bridge replacement, refret, replacement bridge plate. A long crack extending from below the high-E string to the bottom of the guitar has been repaired with 4 maple cleats and there is a football-shaped patch on the treble side bottom as well as three holes plugged on the headstock veneer.
The guitar has a responsive, open tone with perfect playability. The neck is a very comfortable "V" carve that fits nicely in hand. Cosmetically, along with the aforementioned repairs it remains in good shape with checking throughout.
Includes Original Case Co. case.
