It's been a while since CVG has hosted an earlier piece of Marshall history, but we're happy to present this wonderful Plexi JTM50 Super PA from 1966. While it doesn't necessarily live up to "perfect" collector specifications, it's kept things original where it counts, and sounds magnificent. Essentially, what the Super PA "1963" circuit equates to is a JTM45, with an added preamp tube to host additional channels, for more instrument inputs. This amp works great with channel jumping as well, giving it a tasteful little bump in gain.
Internally, the electrolytic caps have been changed, along with the original bulgin power port. One power resistor, and both power tube screen resistors have been changed as well. Additionally, only one bias range resistor has been changed, along with a modern 56k carbon comp has been swapped out for the tone stack slope resistor. A trimmer pot has been added as well, for ease of setting the power tube bias. Other than 2 added bright caps on 2 of the 4 channels the rest of the circuit is all stock, with original resistors and mustard caps. Please see pictures for further details - you will also note the original bell housing was used on the changed Mercury power transformer, just to help match the look.
The plexi front has some small cracks, and the amp shows light signs of wear overall - all which fall in a pretty reasonable range, given it's age. It's in great condition overall!
