This 1949 Gibson Southern Jumbo is a beautifully aged example of Gibson’s post-war slope-shoulder dreadnought. Featuring a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, it delivers the warm, open tone these models are prized for—rich in the midrange with a woody low end and articulate highs. The large neck profile and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard offer a comfortable, vintage feel, while the sunburst finish shows just the right amount of wear. A classic workhorse, this SJ is equally at home for strumming, or flatpicking. This example has undergone extensive repair to ensure its playability for years to come. Check out the Specs tab for the full repair history. Includes a non-original hardshell case.
