With the transition of the Les Paul into what is now known as the SG model in 1961, Gibson opted for a lighter and more accessible double cutaway model. These guitars quickly became a staple among rock icons like Robby Krieger, Carlos Santana and Angus Young. This 1963 example is a terrific sounding guitar in solid shape with a super comfortable neck. The most significant repair has been a heel crack, but the repair quality is excellent, and the price reflects this history. We believe the pickups to be original (missing a sticker in the neck, but an authentic Pat No. sticker in the bridge), although the covers have been replaced and the bridge pickup has been rewound. The nut has been shimmed and it's benefitted from a great refret. All-in-all a killer SG with a super comfortable neck and creamy tone.
