Description
1952 is the first year of issue for the Gibson Les Paul Standard, aka, "The Goldtop." This example is in very good condition with light playing wear. The guitar has a great feeling neck and plays well even with the original frets. The P-90 pickups both sound great either through a clean(er) sounding amp or with overdrive. The tailpiece has been replaced by a Glaser made, "Music City" tailpiece that makes the guitar much easier to play. The Music City bridge/tailpiece also helps with intonation. The tuners are repros, the original tuners are in the case, as are the original strap buttons. As far as issues go, the binding on the bass (driver's) side of the body was replaced from the bottom of the guitar, under the tailpiece, all the way around up the side of the body just past the waist of the guitar. For some reason there is associated paint loss in the same area on the top of the guitar (see picture of front of guitar). This looks like an old repair from, "Back in the day." We've discounted the guitar accordingly for this modification. The guitar comes in its original Lifton 4 latch brown case.
