Although originally marketed as a less extravagant take on the Les Paul Goldtop, the Gibson Les Paul Special, without a carved and painted maple cap, is every bit as iconic to music history. A slab mahogany body and set mahogany neck, and Brazilian Rosewood board, this two P90 pickup guitar strikes a fine balance between simplicity and quality design. A range of tones can be had with the spanning position of the p90s. This particular example is a fantastic player and has had some modifications which make it much more affordable than a completely original example: body refinish with plugged humbucker routes and plugged stoptail holes, changed tuners, replaced nut, refret, modern compensated Glaser bridge, complete rewire with replacement pots, added shielding on back plate, and replacement switch/switch tip. This guitar plays and sounds great with low action and is ready to rock!
