A Black Beauty from 1957, this Gibson is in exceptionally original condition; it appears to have never had a restorative trip to a luthier. It sits with its original PAF, gold-plated pickups and untouched wiring harness. All of the patina has been left in tact; we very may well have been the first to turn the majority of the screws since it left the factory. The Ebony finish is in great condition with limited wear and chipping from buckle rash. The Les Paul Custom is one of the most iconic guitars to ever hit the market, the three pickup configuration is every rockers dream, because the only thing better than a pair of PAF's is a third PAF. This guitar has been cased for a good portion of its life and shows no signs of neglect. The frets are worn down, but are original, so it will be up to the next owner to decide how to proceed with their luthier. We are always excited to have instruments from the original owner and get a little backstory as to how the guitar lived its life. The original owner purchased the Black Beauty in like-new condition in 1958 in Lansing, Michigan at 22 years old, using funds from his farming lifestyle and service in the Army National Guard. He was a multi-instrumentalist, playing by ear, that shared music actively through the 1980s at church, county events, and nursing homes --- spreading loving classic country gospel music to his community. Photos from his long period of ownership are featured in this listing.Guitars always present us with a story, and a rare instrument like this one tells an incredible tale of Gibson at the height of their Les Paul craftsmanship along with the many decades since. It is impressive to say the least and it is an honor to have it in the shop.Comes with the original black pebbled Lifton case with yellow velvet interior.
