This 1969 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top features a solid mahogany top beneath the maple, having been built right before they started with the "pancake" layered design. Because of this you can expect a much more "classic" Les Paul, with the features more resembling the 50's models, aside from the nylon saddles. The neck feels reminiscent of a 1960 profile, being a bit slimmer, but still providing comfortable leverage for your left hand. The most notable feature about this particular guitar is having been signed by it's namesake - Les Paul himself! You can see it on the headstock, covering the place you would normally see the name. As is common with most vintage pieces this guitar has had some changes since it's original state, which consist of the following:
The original tuners were replaced, along with the strap buttons, and truss rod cover
The switch tip was also replaced, along with the saddles, and the original nut
These changes are fairly insignificant when you consider what most older instruments endure. To say this guitar has held up well is an understatement - it plays and sounds like a dream. The amount of wear is moderate, and some would even say it has the perfect amount of character. It comes with an non-original Gibson case from the 80's.
