Modifications/Repairspickguard missing, refret with replaced binding/overspray on neck, nut replaced, bridge replaced (should be a gold ABR-1) knobs replaced for '60s reflectors with 3 of the inserts missing... the neck tone knob still has the "Tone" insert.
By 1958, the Gibson L-5 CES had become one of the company's flagship electric archtops, combining carved construction with the then-modern convenience of dual humbuckers. This example has seen a number of thoughtful repairs over the years, including a refret with replacement neck binding and neck overspray, a new nut, and a replacement bridge. The missing pickguard and later '60s reflector knobs—three of which are missing their inserts—give the instrument an honest, played-in appearance, while the original neck tone knob still retains its "Tone" insert. This L-5 CES tells the story of an instrument that remained in regular use, with maintenance performed as needed to keep it in service. It continues to offer the commanding presence and unmistakable feel that have made the L-5 one of Gibson's most enduring archtop designs.Includes black Gibson hard shell case.
