The electric version of the L-5C, the L-5CES, was launched in 1951 as Gibson's premier electric guitar. In 1996, to meet the demand for a more affordable option for working musicians, Gibson introduced the L-5 Studio. This model shares the same design, bracing, and scale as its more expensive counterpart, featuring a solid spruce soundboard and a solid ebony fingerboard, similar to the company's highest-end instruments. Manufactured for only four model years, the L-5 Studio has since become one of the rarest variants of Gibson's top jazz guitar. This example boasts a distinctive translucent blue sunburst finish that has gracefully faded into a green hue. It offers effortless playability with low action, delivering the rich L-5 tone featured on countless classic jazz recordings. While it shows some signs of wear, the most noticeable is the finish wear near the wings of the headstock from resting on a guitar stand.OHSC included.
