This is a rare 1937 L-5 made in the style of the coveted 16” 1920’s dot necks, and may have been a special order at the time as most L-5’s in this period had the 17” body. This guitar sports a 16” body, solid un-kerfed bracing, 25.5” long scale, a smaller 1920’s L-5 style tail piece, and an unusual light iced tea sunburst finish. Interestingly, the neck has a very comfortable round C-shape instead of the hard V-shape often associated with L-5’s from the 1920’s and 1930s. The maple back and neck display superb flame. The guitar is completely original, including a well preserved original pick guard and only modest and honest wear from being carefully played over the years. It comes with its original red line case which is structurally sound, but only in fair condition…you may want to upgrade to a Calton to house this beautiful and historic instrument.
