A great '37 Gibson L-5 that came originally from the Bellson Brother's shop (notated by the sticker on the back of the headstock) who were notable Gibson dealers of the time. One of the brothers, Louie Bellson was a composer, arranger, bandleader, and jazz educator who is credited with pioneering the use of two bass drums as well as being a prolific drummer touring with Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, and Duke Ellington to name a few.The guitar itself is in good playable condition having had a very solidly repaired/oversprayed heel crack that spans the sides next to the heel. It also has a top and side crack that were repaired and are stable as well. It was re-fretted with a replaced nut and plays comfortably with some very light fret wear that doesn't effect playability. The original pickguard will be included in the case that previously had a DeArmond pickup (Also included) installed in it.Includes a non original hard shell case and paperwork.
