Gibson's 16" wide, round-shouldered dreadnought, the J-45, was introduced in 1942 as a replacement for the J-35. Since then it has become one of Gibson's classic models and is still produced today. Coined by Gibson with the nickname, "The Workhorse," the J-45 is an unflashy, sweet and simple dreadnought with a powerful and resonant tone.
This particular example has obviously been modified in more ways than one. It was retopped with Mahogany, translating a warmer, more mellow sound, entirely refinished, and received a new bridge and set of tuners. There is overspray on the back of the neck and on the headstock. Includes a non-original Hard Case.
