Introduced in 1942 to replace the inexpensive Great Depression-era flattop J-35, the J-45 standardized the company's approach to the dreadnought guitar. This is a wartime era 'Banner' J-45 with the classic words "Only A Gibson Is Good Enough" inscribed on the headstock.
It has a had a bit of work done to it including a neck reset, re-fret, replaced bridge, bridge re-glue, replaced bridge plate, new nut and saddle, re-glued braces, top, back and side crack repairs, and reattached headstock wings. Thanks to the repairs though, it plays excellently and sounds incredible.
One thing to note: If you like a large neck on a guitar, this one is for you! It has a depth of 1.065" to 1.125" and truly exemplifies the baseball bat moniker that gets thrown around. Regardless, it really is a joy to play and sits very comfortably in the hand.
Includes a non original hard shell case.
