This 1944 Gibson J-45 in Sunburst is a remarkably well-preserved example from the heart of the Banner-era, showing an exceptional degree of originality for its age. The finish features a beautiful pattern of light checking throughout, with minimal dings or wear considering its 80-year journey. It’s had a neck reset and likely a refret at some point—both done with care—but the guitar retains the vast majority of its original components, from the tuners to the bridge and pickguard. The neck has that familiar, rounded wartime carve—full in the hand but very playable—and the guitar responds with a warm, dry voice that’s both wide open and nuanced. A rare find in this condition, and a strong example of what makes these wartime J-45s so enduring. Comes with the OHSC.
