The Gibson Explorer was way ahead of its time when it was introduced in 1958, only 19 were shipped that year, but it has become very popular in the years since then. Can you imagine being a teenager seeing this hanging on the wall of your local music dealer and begging your parents to allow you to get it for the ever controversial rock and roll music? The classic vintage Explorer features have been carefully recreated in this 1976 reissue, one of Gibson's first years doing such a model. It features a Mahogany neck and body, patent # pickups, and original pots. The only changes are in a reproduction pickguard and replacement nut. This incredible example comes with its original purple-lined hardshell case and case candy.
