Gibson's Advanced Jumbo, first unveiled in the 1930s, is quite a unique beast compared to the more mass produced Jumbo models that the brand became known for. The typical Gibson formula is a 24.75" scale length and mahogany back and sides; as found in the J45. The Advanced Jumbo was a more premium offering and had a longer 25.5" Martin-esque scale length and Rosewood back and sides (like a Martin D-28). This modern "New Vintage" example reignites this unique Gibson combo with the same Indian Rosewood choice for back and sides. The longer scale length allows for more tension, which has made it popular to flat pickers. Bluegrassers prefer Martin, but they love the AJ for these specs. It's not a fancier J-45, it's a beautiful fusion.
