From Gibson: "In guitar lingo, being “ruined” is when you play something so good there’s no going back to what you once had. No Gibson guitar has evoked this expression more than the Les Paul™ Junior. In the 1950s, it was sold as a student/budget model, as simple as a set-neck solidbody electric guitar could be. But after a while, the humble Les Paul Junior caught the ear of professional guitarists who appreciated its sonic purity and minimalist components. The luthiers and craftspeople of the Gibson Custom Shop have proudly kept the recipe the same for this Historic Reissue. From the solid mahogany and hide glue construction to the vintage-style wiring, the classic Les Paul Junior is back...and ready to “ruin” you.
The 1957 Les Paul Junior Single Cut Reissue features a single cutaway, solid mahogany body, along with a solid mahogany neck with a long tenon that is fitted to the body with hide glue. The neck also has a 50s Rounded Medium C profile and is topped with an Indian rosewood fretboard with 22 authentic medium jumbo frets and simple pearloid dot inlays. Kluson® three-on-a-plate tuners with white buttons ensure reliable tuning stability while a traditional wraparound bridge solidly anchors the strings and contributes to the Junior’s exceptional sustain. For the electronics, a single Dogear P-90 from Gibson Custom is paired with audio-taper CTS® potentiometers and a paper-in-oil tone capacitor, delivering the wide variety of authentic Les Paul Junior tones that have thrilled players and audiences for decades.
The 1957 Les Paul Junior Single Cut Reissue features Heavy Aging by the skilled artisans of the Murphy Lab. The Murphy Lab Heavy Aged finish treatment, paired with heavily aged hardware, simulates decades of heavy play wear, giving it the unique character, vibe, and feel of an original example from the Gibson Golden Era."
