The Fender Mustang was first introduced in 1964. It was brought to market as a more advanced student model guitar. The Mustang improves on the Duo-Sonic with a tremolo system and intricate pickup switches that offer phase changing options. This particular example is refinished in a thin black finish. When it comes to playability, this guitar truly excels, delivering a sonically percussive and clean sound. The versatility of the pickup selections allows for a wide range of tones - from smooth and woody to a more lo-fi telecaster sound. Yet, at its core, the classic Fender sound remains unmistakable. The phase changing options give a very unique sound as well, and all combinations would make for a great funky tone in any application. Repairs and modifications include: filled fingerboard divots, broken low E tuner post (still functional), added string tree, small dowel in the headstock, two dowels in the heel of the neck and two dowels in the body.
All of the repairs and modifications bring it within the player grade guitar range. This Mustang is just that, a player's guitar. It has all the necessities to inspire and tonally represent the unique sounds that enter the player's imagination. It is in full working order and includes the tremolo arm in the case.
