This incredible vintage instrument comes from early in Fender's solid-body electric era. The guitar was built in February of 1951, with its neck and body shaped by Fender icon Tadeo Gomez. The neck is dated, “TG 2-19-51.” Examples of Tadeo made neck and body guitars are well documented in Nacho Banos’ “The Blackguard” book and very rare. The decal was replaced sometime in the 70s. The neck has been professionally refret, and the nut has been replaced. It features an original “Broadcaster” body (without the diagonal route under the guard) signed “TG 2/6/51” in the neck pocket. The guitar features its original early ’50’s finish that’s specific to Broadcasters, Esquires and Nocasters from this era.Electronics have been updated to more functional later ’50’s specs. The pots are CTS dated 1950 and possibly are replacements. The neck pickup was re-wound by Ron Ellis. The bridge pickup is original and fully functional. Replaced parts include the pickguard, replaced bridge screws, 5 replaced tuners (D tuner is original).Comes with the original “Thermometer” hard case.
