Built at the beginning of the metal-front era, this 50W Marshall is essentially all Plexi at its core. It features the same brown, hand-wired turret board from the previous era, and still carries all of its original preamp components, along with updated filter caps. The only other changes are a replaced pilot light and power-transformer shunt caps. 1k screen grid resistors were also added, as most techs consider them a mandatory update. See pictures for further details.
The iconic British rock “Plexi” tone is on full display here. The “Bass” 1986 circuit uses a shared V1 cathode and the preamp is effectively identical to the JTM45, minus a bright cap. This results in smoother breakup with less piercing high-end—something many players prefer. This amp is sure to impress, delivering the classic Marshall formula that helped cement the brand’s legendary status!
