The late Johann Brentrup was a Minnesota-based and masterful luthier of guitars and mandolins. Decades of experience in studying traditional stringed instruments and injecting tasteful amendments to their designs has led to instruments such as this, based on a 1923 Gibson F-5. A bright and timeless spruce top pairs well with a strikingly finished maple back and sides, and these are a complemented well with wood trim and elegant inlays. Mild swirling, headstock wear and finish checking signifies regular, responsible playing by a previous owner. Fortunately, this mandolin remains in beautiful shape, rings out sweetly, and is more than ready for a new home. Includes bright red Bobelock case.
