The Vox AC30 sits proudly on the "Mount Rushmore" of vintage amplifiers. Alongside Marshall, this amp helped define the quintessential “British” sound and has influenced nearly every EL84-powered design that followed. While the upper back panel is a replacement, the amp can be dated by the CJ codes on the pots (March ’62), along with the use of Albion transformers, which preceded the switch to Wodens in 1963. Though this predates the infamous “Top Boost” model, this Copper Panel "Twin" has an incredible sound all its own.
Internally, the amp is in great condition. The power cord and electrolytic caps have been replaced, while most of the original tone and signal caps remain. The changes are mostly isolated to the tremolo section, likely to service functionality. Please refer to the circuit photos for further details. Notably, it retains all of the original grey Radio Spares coupling caps, which hold legendary status for their use in early Vox and Marshall amps.
The original Albion transformers are still present, along with the angelic-sounding Celestion T530 Alnico Blue speakers.
Cosmetically, the amp shows light to moderate wear but still looks very good overall.
Fortunately, this amp is on casters, for ease of transportation.
