The Vox AC10 Twin is an incredible sounding low wattage amp and a rare find on this side of the pond. The “Twin” moniker refers to its pair of Elac 10" speakers, giving its modest 10 watts a surprisingly full and powerful presence. This example has held up very well over the years, showing only minor signs of previous wear, though the upper-left Vox logo is missing. It also features an interesting mix of preamp tubes, with an EF86 on the Vibrato channel and a 6U8A on the Normal channel.
Players should note that most 6U8A tubes exhibit microphonic tendencies, which may be noticeable at higher volumes.
Internally, it is largely original, with only a replaced power cord, a couple updated preamp components, and one changed pot—please see circuit photos for further details. The speaker pigtail has been updated to a 1/4" plug, allowing for more flexible use with other amps or speakers.. Combined with the original Elac speakers and Parmeko transformers, this makes for a highly collectible and great-sounding vintage amp!
Despite being fully functional the buyer should note this amp has long expired filter capacitors and delicate original speaker cones. While many amps are run this way for years without issue, anyone planning on prolonged or regular gigging use would be advised to have it serviced.
