When Ken Fischer passed in 2006, the Trainwreck legacy was carried on by his longtime assistant, John Mark. This transition is particularly well executed, as they are still built in the same shop, using the same parts/transformers, with the same build quality.
The original Rocket amps were built in extremely limited numbers—believed to be around 12 units total—with only two of the Trem-Rocket models having been made by Ken himself. As a result, these amps are incredibly rare, especially since John continues to produce only a small number each year.
Like all Trainwreck designs, the circuit draws some inspiration from Vox, featuring a 4x EL84 power section that delivers around 30 watts. As expected from a Trainwreck, the tremolo circuit is exceptionally musical, offering a rich depth and smooth oscillation that sets it apart. With just a few controls—Volume, Treble, and Bass Contour—there’s a surprising amount of tonal nuance and versatility, making this a truly special amplifier.
