This 2005 Taylor T5-S1 comes from the early years of the T5 line, a model that marked a significant shift in Taylor’s catalog as the company moved further into hybrid electric design. Finished in Blue Burst, the guitar combines a figured maple top with a chambered body construction that gives it a noticeably resonant feel while keeping the weight down. Rather than following the path of a traditional hollowbody or solidbody outright, the T5 was designed around blending electric and acoustic-inspired response into a single instrument, something that helped it gain traction with a wide range of touring musicians in the mid-2000s.
The onboard T5 electronics system features a lipstick style pickup with selectable voicings, giving the guitar a broad tonal range without relying solely on conventional magnetic pickup sounds. An ebony fingerboard and bridge pair with Taylor’s slim mahogany neck for a quick, articulate response, while the compact body dimensions make the guitar feel agile in hand. The Blue Burst finish adds a slightly more modern look compared to the natural and sunburst versions commonly seen from the period.
