This is a great-sounding Shin-Ei Univibe pedal from the 1970s. It’s in excellent electronic condition, with all original capacitors and the transformer intact. The original footswitch is missing, but it comes with an aftermarket pedal to control the on/off function, along with the speed. Some additional XLR and 1/4" jacks were added to the right side, but they have since been disconnected.
There are plenty of clones out there, but none quite capture the signature sound of the original—just listen to Hendrix's "Machine Gun" from the Band of Gypsys record, for reference. This pedal sounds incredible, with a depth and richness that’s missing in most modern clones. New users who are unfamiliar with vintage models should note that the lower speed settings may sound a bit faint compared to the medium and higher settings, which is a common characteristic of all-original electronics.
