Brand new from the Preston Thompson team in Sisters, OR! Their dreadnoughts are all crafted to produce the tone and volume needed to go toe-to-toe with mandolins, fiddles and banjos. These are traditional instruments and all models are based on the famous 1937 Herringbone Dreadnought, owned by the late, great Charles Sawtelle of the award-winning bluegrass band, Hot Rize. This 28-style model combines a red spruce top (chosen for tap tone and stiffness), advanced X brace placement, pre-war hand-carved scalloped braces, with Indian rosewood back and sides. It's surprisingly lightweight, and we requested a satin nitro-cellulose finish for an even more responsive tone. The bass response provides an almost full orchestral backing to vocals, and the mid-range response and bright trebles take flatpicking and lead playing to new levels of achievement.
Comes with an Original Case Company fitted vintage-style case.
