Preston Thompson dreadnoughts are built with a singular purpose: to deliver the power and presence needed to stand alongside mandolins, fiddles, and banjos. Rooted in tradition, every model draws inspiration from the legendary 1937 Herringbone Dreadnought. This 28-style example features an Adirondack spruce top, advanced X-bracing, pre-war hand-carved scalloped braces, and Indian rosewood back and sides—and this one is the coveted 12-fret version. It’s remarkably lightweight, and this particular guitar was ordered with a satin nitrocellulose finish for added openness and responsiveness. The low end offers a rich, orchestral foundation for vocals, while the clear mids and sparkling trebles elevate both flatpicking and lead work to exceptional levels.
