This 2023 Pisgah Rambler Dobson Special is a hand-built, small-shop banjo that takes the traditional open-back "Dobson" style. It's built with native Appalachian tonewoods, and is paired with an aged brass or metal rim, plus Pisgah's own Hawktail tailpiece for better downward bridge pressure and note clarity. Every piece of hardware is made in-house, and the whole instrument is a modern example of thoughtful, sustainably-sourced American banjo building rather than mass production. For a player who wants real old-time or clawhammer character with contemporary build quality, this is a fantastic, still-fresh instrument with room to grow into.
